Virtual Unity360 Community Race Dialogue and Benefit
The Covid-19 pandemic has revealed the results of generations of systemic racism in the United States. Black and brown people are not only being infected and dying at disproportionate rates, they are also disproportionately among those workers deemed “essential” during the crisis. More recently, the people across the country have been outraged by the senseless killings of Black men and women, either at the hands of police officers or white vigilantes.
The South Florida People of Color (SFPOC) is committed to continuing its antiracism work in this time of crisis by offering a virtual version of its Unity360 Community Race Dialogue, but this time to benefit those most impacted by the pandemic and the economic downturn it has caused.
Join us on Saturday June 20th at 11am via facebook live (facebook.com/sfpoc) for an exploratory discussion on systemic inequality and the Covid-19 crisis as we raise funds for the mutual aid fund organized by The Smile Trust.
Our panel will feature experts on history, psychology, antiracism, and public health, who will speak to the current pandemic and point towards a healthier and more inclusive future for the region and the nation.
Panel participants: Dr. Armen Henderson, Valencia Gunder, Ruban Roberts, Dwight Bullard, Dr. Judy Lubin, Dr. Paul Ortiz, Dr. Marvin Dunn, Melba Pearson, Jasmen Rogers-Shaw, Dudley Alexis, M. Denise Simmons, Gail Price-Wise, Jordana Hart, Retha Boone-Fye, and Femi Folami-Browne.
